Drug trading inside provincial jail, too?

BEBOT VILLAR

By Bebot Villar

IT certainly looks like there are jail guards and inmates at the Pangasinan Provincial Jail who think they can replicate the drug trading activities of their peers at the New Bilibid.

It was a good thing alert si Jail Officer I Marvin Zara at nakuha ang tatlong sachets na may shabu from one inmate last week. Dahil sa pangyayaring ito, nangako ang Lingayen PNP it will conduct an investigation.

This concern should be nipped in the bud, baka mas madami pa ang maging kasangkot sa iligal na gawain na ito. The worse that could happen is baka jail employees will be involved in the drug trading inside the prison.

This issue should not be treated lightly. A head, or a set of heads, should roll because of this incident!

Agaw–pansin ang pag-endorse ng Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) sa tambalang Poe – Escudero in the coming May 9, 2016 national and local Elections. The camp of former Secretary Mar Roxas also claimed may mga myembro ng NPC na hindi raw nakonsulta ng kanilang liderato and there are others who have decided to support LP candidates!

Vice presidentiable Bongbong Marcos supports the move to restore the death penalty para sa mga drug lords at drug traffickers.

The “young once” can recall the fate of Lim Seng na syang unang nakatikim ng firing squad dahil sa drug trafficking noong Enero 1973 or four months after Martial Law was declared by then President Ferdinand Marcos. Matapos daw patayin si Lim Seng, drug trading practically disappeared in the country. Death penalty is a sensitive issue in a predominantly Catholic country like Philippines.

For me, mahalaga ang pagkakabatid ng butihing Senador na ang isyu sa iligal na droga is not only a problem of law enforcement.

The campaign against illegal drugs must begin with the family. This reminder must be echoed in our schools too! Kung may maayos na values formation, every child at home and in school will not be easily tempted to submit to the demonic drug pushers!
