Let’s go ahead with the media advisory idea

WE received a lot of encouraging reactions to our subject last week, which was about Senator Pimentel’s Right of Reply bill.
As we said, to which many agreed, the bill was not anti press freedom; but anti media malpractices.
Di ba, agreed ka rito, Governor Spines? Mantakin mo, agaylay karakel met na media people na nagpunta sa Christmas Party mo — more than 400 daw! Para na tayong National Press Club niyana.
We go back to our endorsement of a Media Advisory Council as proposed by Publisher Ermin Garcia. We’ve discussed the matter with Jun Velasco, former Pangasinan Press Club president and NPC director. We are all for it so that sanity and a proper sense of media responsibility will reign in our province. Kayo rin na mga kibitzers, you should welcome this move, para malinis met so image yo, aliwan singa kayo medyas.
If we are able to show a high sense of responsibility, the Pimentel bill will be redundant, not needed. No government will attempt to police our ranks.

In the spirit of Lent, let’s give rape victim Nicole her much needed rest with her family and loved ones. She has been verbally abused too much by groups pretending to be helping her cause although much of their actions bespeak of self-serving propaganda.
The poor girl is confused, and her case is even being linked with the Visiting Forces Agreement.
In a sense, Nicole represents our women of today due to factors beyond their control.
Parang kumakapit sa patalim. If we adopt this view, we would be kinder to Nicole and her ilk. Maawa naman kayo.

All this frantic preparation for Bangus Festival is good. But it has its backside. We might be overdoing things. Tempey yo pay daiset, mga agagui. Don’t forget that in the past, we were also all crazy in the fiesta galore. After a while, Super Typhoon Cosme lashed at our community unroofing and uprooting everything
We are not Kill Joy. We just want to sober you up, fellas?

All this talk about ousting President Gloria from her chair is simply that — talk. And if you would allow us, it won’t result to anything.
Know why? Because may well orchestrated move to hide the truth in the Bubby Dacer case. In our layman’s view, pag may itinatago, may ginagawang kakatwang ingay, di ba, mga igan? So there you are.
