A pat on the back for Dr. Raul Sabado

THERE’s a lot of preparations being made by the Dagupan City government to ensure the slam-bang success of Bangus Festival on April 30-May l under the leadership of Mayor Al Fernandez and Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez.
That’s great.
But what we should not overlook is that concerns have been raised over the sustainability of our bangus industry due to the proliferation of fishpens. You know this very well, Vice Mayor Belen, because they are mushrooming left and right beside the new Diversion Road leading to your CSI in Lucao.
Please advise your Kapitan Lino, ABC president and a member of the city council, to do something about this. We’ve read and heard about the city agriculturist’s office doing some demolitionhere and there, but there are still thousands more of fishpens in our river system.
Maraming ng nagwarning, umiinit na ang panahon, palapit na ang summer, baka malintikan yang mga bangus jan, naku, paktaylo!

We received a few reactions about a short item on our friend, Dr. Raul Sabado, a well-known orthopedic surgeon, after his incarceration at the Bureau of Jail Management in Dagupan City due to a recruitment case.
Some mutual friends felt alluded to with Raul’s confessed regrets and disappointment. They said “our friend should have shown more gratitude than regret.
We advise Raul to heed their feelings.
If he felt emotionally crushed, our sympathy and understanding. Such an experience must have given him some moments of terror. You, dear readers, can stretch your imagination how it felt to be inside although deep in your heart and minds you were sure that you didn’t do anything wrong.
But life, Dear Raul, has its baffling twists and turns that sometimes put to test our faith in our fellowmen, in ourselves and in God. A lot of things have arisen from Raul’s sad experience some bordering on personal friendships.
But in fairness, dear Raul, those who helped you did their best for a friend, you. And so, in the name of fairness, medyo nagkulang ka rin ata. It’s not money that matters always; it’s how we keep brotherly relationships and strengthened.
Pare, mahal ka ng mga kaibigan mo. Look into your heart. If we were you, we’d toast a drink with them and make them feel how grateful you are for their efforts in getting you out from that rut. .
It’s nice to be free, isn’t it? It’s a gift from God.

We saw in the pages of the Punch last week a photo of former Councilor Jaime Arzadon and his lovely wife, Ate Loleng who marked their golden wedding jubilee.
We remember Kuya Jimmy as a brilliant, militant lawyer-councilor who used to idolize Raul Manglapus a lot. Guapo pa rin at napakaganda pa rin ni Ate Loli, and all their children and grand children are all good looking and healthy.
Mukhang bihira ng namamasyal sila Kuya Jim sa Dagupan ata. We know a lot of important events in the city where Jimmy, the lawyer, was a central and shining figure. Dalasan mo naman, manong, ang magpunta sa Dagupan. Your old beerkadas are still alive and kicking. Savor the fellowship – and pilyoship – at the beautiful fishpond of Mayor Al, your colleague in the city council years back. Those were the days of brilliant debates between you and Reggie Ravanzo and other merry jousts between and among Ito Villamil, Conrad Guadiz, Pedy Torio and Kuya Fred “Crocodile tears” Sta. Maria in the council.
