Sister Luz’s fine example

WHAT happened to our colleague and Mayor of Anda Nestor Beltran- Pulido is a pure case of political harassment. We wish to warn those who conspired to have him suspended for one month due to a technical error, mali ata pinanggalingan ng pera para sa mga nasalanta ng bagyo.

Just like that? Yes, just like that. Para silang iba, para silang immaculately clean (as if we didn’t know!). That incident in the full watch of his dear wife, their fellow Board Member Alice Pulido, beloved mother of our TV idol Maki, was a slap on the face of friendship or whatever was left of it in favor of you know what we mean.

Tandaan niyo, hindi natutulog ang Diyos. Imagine gaygayen yoy too ya anta yo met ya agto nantakew, nan usar lambengat na pondo pian naisalba to ray kaskasian ya konstitwent to ya adesyang na bagyo. Sanamabit! Mantalaran kayo na pasnok ng nasa itaas.

The ugly face of politics (and dirty lucre, e, ano pa?) reared its ugly head again.

We wish to congratulate anti terrorists czar General Art Lomibao for his appointment as Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) chairman.

Mabait at matinik yan. He deserves his new job, which bespeaks of high responsibility. In so short a time after his successful PNP leadership record, Art has been appointed to many posts including national irrigation administrator, counter terrorism action group, and now, LTFRB.

Our family once again wishes to thank Mayor Al Fernandez and his family for being so kind and hospitable during the visit of sister Luz Hammershaind, who came to turn over 30 housing units to the city’s Gawad Kalinga housing program under Tony Meloto.

Sister Luz, who lost her husband last year, was touched by Mayor Al’s vintage friendliness when he hosted a dinner for her and daughter Ad, our beloved wife Atty. Ruth and yours truly at the much praised Fishpond, where steamed red tilapia delighted everyone’s palate no end. In Al’s characteristic story-telling skills, everyone enjoyed his anecdotes about Kuya Ado’s younger and courtship days. Ado, says, Al would enter the ladies rooms, and usually borrowed the late Bal Balingit’s car whenever he went a-courting Ate Mita Sison, daughter of the late Justice Porfirio V. Sison and former Vice Governor Nancy Sison.

In the group was City Administrator Alvin Fernandez, who showed his excellent PR (medyo natatalo si Councilor Alfie ngayon a, joke lang), who has convinced us of his readiness to become his erpat’s mayoral successor.

We personally were happy that our sister, though enjoying life’s blessings hasn’t forgotten her Dagupan roots. We intimated to Mayor Al that other family members will follow suit. It will be a matter of time Kuya Cesar, the tycoon and UPANG chairman, will make good his word to put up a health center in the city’s Gawad Kalinga center, which will use his own pre-fab products. Susunod na rin diyan sina Kuya Ado, Ate Nieva, Ate Grace, brod DoH Sec. Pingkoy and, who knows, yours truly. Antay lang kayo ng kunti ha?

We are sincerely happy because the family, true to what our parents inculcated in us, remains committed to public service. God has been kind, and so we wish to thank Him by helping others.
