Cops unleash race trackers vs. motorcycle-riding assassins

LINGAYEN–The Police Provincial Office  (PPO) has organized “race trackers” in each of the six districts to go after hitmen-riding-in-tandem (HRIT), investigate old cases and file charges against the perpetrators in court.

This strategy was bared by P/Sr. Supt. Sterling Raymund Blanco, PPO officer-in-charge, noting the series of shooting incidents perpetrated by HRITs in Pangasinan before he assumed his post.

Blanco has since called all chiefs of police in the municipalities and cities to a consultation for an inventory of personnel, investigators and mobility.

He later pooled investigators assigned in different police stations to form the district race trackers so there will be a focus on the activities of the HRIT.

The police has also intensified “Operation Kapkap” that subjects suspicious-looking persons to random checks for concealed firearms and other deadly weapons.

Blanco also defended the installation of police carts in various towns and cities saying that these are actually extension of the police stations.

These (police carts) receive complaints from the community and the policemen assigned to the police carts are the first police responders in any kind of trouble, said Blanco.

There are now 20 police carts around the province and Blanco called on the others towns to also construct their own for faster police response in the communities. (LVM)
