Why CTQ is running for mayor

“All politics is local,” TIP O’NEIL, former US Speaker
THE election fever once again will show bizarre ways candidates will use to win in the polls by hook or by crook.
We feel debauched by the cash handout, we want to spit at the “generous” hand.
It may be hypocritical to slam the bribe never mind its damage to our moral side because of the financially worsening times.
But deep inside we know that the dirty lucre will eventually translate into our comeuppance, probably making us or a family member sick or suffer later. Careful with hurting your conscience.
Yes, it’s a different matter if the money comes from honest labor, being inviolable and universal principle in life.

We keep repeating our lapses, our mistakes, our errors.
Our series of weather disturbances – typhoons, storms, storm surges, tsunamis, flood, et.al. – is a regular if chronic fare in our stories.
We recite the same admonition — be prepared, be pre-emptive, be in league with what the environmentalists are asking us to do.
After a while – after we dispose off the storm and with the sun back in the sky, we get back to our old happy-go-lucky, irresponsible ways.
Then when the second, third, fourth weather attack comes back down again we go through the same things and make the same mistakes again.
The same smart Alecks, do-gooders, and wise men-pretenders would holler at everyone, including themselves, “we never learn!”

ELECTION UPDATE: The presidential race has thrust Mar Roxas to the top, with Grace Poe and, surprise, Miriam Santiago. Rudy Claudio of Tayug says don’t ignore Jojo Binay, his long immersion with the masses who don’t give a hoot to graft and corruption issues might spring a surprise.
Neighbor Gonz Duque, a confidant of mayor Rody Duterte, however, insists his man will file late December en route to the Palace.
For vice president, the race is obviously led by Bongbong Marcos followed by Leni Robredo, Alan Peter Cayetano, Chiz Escudero, Antonio Trillanes and Gringo Honasan, in that order.
Contrary to unverified reports that Celia and Bryan Lim are running for Dagupan mayor and vice mayor do not intend to win, here is a report from a friend of Joe Almonte , “the mother and son will do everything to win.”
Under P-noy’s baton, the Liberal party used to treat Governor Spines as an outsider; now, by dint of a political magical wand, Mar Roxas and Spines were seen together sharing the same microphone to campaign for Liberal Party bets in Infanta and Mangatarem last Tuesday.

Did you know…celebrity lawyer Lorna Patajo Kapunan, a senatorial bet under Grace Poe, is a Pangasinense. She is the daughter of the late Lino Patajo, former Comelec chairman. She deserves Pangasinenses’ support.
Business tycoon Cesar T. Quiambao is running for mayor of Bayambang, Pangasinan. We heard the politicians he backed with millions in campaign funds and development projects after their election became corrupt.
After a successful business adventure in Metro Manila and overseas, CTQ wants to try his hand in politics, even amid friends’ advice for him to go to the senate or at least congress.
He is taking the driver’s seat himself to lead Bayambang to unprecedented levels of economic progress, one of which, says Councilor Levin Uy, is Bayambang’s cityhood.
Levin spurned his council slot to stay focused on CTQ’s entrepreneurial projects.

NOTES: Grammarians are still amused by common lapses that find their way in our local newspapers: “fishies dies…;” “ supporters troops to Comelec office…;” “I could hardly cope up…;” “He is one of best friend…;” “I am a member of the board of director…;” “Have you taken cared of Him?”…; and many others….. Condolence to the family of Alice Fernandez, 87, formerly director of Panelco in Urdaneta City….. Welcome home from Europe, Terry Hernaez, Aurie Reyna’s best friend….,
