Difficult But Possible

Dear Kabaleyan Bernie:

Thank you for your candid comments. I agree with you that “It’s becoming difficult these days to be a proud Filipino.” I understand your concerns as you enumerated all those problems. There may be millions of cases of those conditions you cited, but there are also more millions of positive and good things happening in the country. I don’t have the statistics, but let’s say there are 20% bad in the country and 80% good. We can still rejoice and count those blessings.

As individuals, let’s think of some ways we can contribute for the welfare of the country. I hope this dialog can serve as an stimulus to change our direction. We need Character Change among our people. There is always hope. Maybe, we can adopt the following: Pray fervently, Think positively and Act faithfully (PTA). Let’s continue to pray for our country, think of the positive things happening, and act faithfully as we continue our Christian journey.
.
I’m not sure how to make you more positive and shout TGIF. This is a matter of personal attitude and perspective. We are all imperfect as individuals. Our families are imperfect.

Yet, we are proud of ourselves and our families. We can also be proud as Filipinos, in spite of our many shortcomings. As we say in Pangasinan, “Basta manbibilay, walay ilalo.”

God bless you and your loved ones Kabaleyen.
