‘Political traffic jam’

WE are lately suffering from what we call a “political traffic jam,” if we take note of the many personages who have been making pronouncements left and right here and there that they are the God-sent messiah tasked to save the country from wherever it is floundering.

Ay, panangasi yo pa! God save the Philippines! Agay met laraya, singa mamainumay so manpatakboy nation! But we admire them, their gall, their guts, their nerve for even believing that they are the God-chosen leaders.

There are Brothers Mike Velarde, Eddie Villanueva and lately, Ed Panlilio; and the senators who are itching to jump over the Malacañang bandwagon, Manny Villar, Chiz Escudero, Loren Legarda, Dick Gordon, Ping Lacson, Mayor Jojo Binay, Chairman Bayani Fernando, Sec. Gilbert Teodoro, Chairman Efren Genuino, Congressman Bongbong Marcos, ah, yes, comebacking Erap Estrada and Vice President Noli de Castro.

Whew! Did we not miss anybody? The big number of people wanting to be president shows a clear and imminent danger in our republic. It is a given that what patently ails this country is politics, di ba? Nandiyan, kitang kita ang ebidensiya. Lahat ata gustong maging presidente. Akala mo nagprepresidente ng Rotary Club!

Ni, listen, mga ambisyosos, baka magagalit na ang Diyos ha? Mukha yatang tama yong joke nila that we are in a demo-crazy or demoncrazy?

Saksakey pa labat so labay kon ibaga ed saray ambisyosos — man-training kayo pa ni. Baka magalit sila, tangkolan da kayo if only to tell you that you don’t belong there.

Sige, pantotogtogan ta kayo pala laingen ompiano ompawil so sanity ed olo yo. Haay!

We were able to have a short chat with Governor Spines at the birthday bash of Usec Bebot Villar in Sto. Tomas last Tuesday. After the usual pleasantries he asked us to draft an executive order that would designate us to chair a research committee that would undertake a research on the actual chartering of the province.

Looks like this task might require traveling to Spain to pursue the research work. Parang ok itong assignment natin ha, Guvnor Spines?

We wish to thank Spines too for supporting the PRISAA in Region l, by allowing the use of the province’s four tourist buses to ferry our athletes to Naga City. Our athletes will be presented to the media on April 2.

Jun Velasco beat us to the draw when he wrote in his column about younger brod Pingkoy, our secretary of health for getting the highest ratings in popularity and one of the least corrupt agencies surveys, one reason why he is being groomed for the senate when election time comes.

In this case of brod Pingkoy, he is not like the presidency-crazed politicians that we mentioned. Kasi kung tutuusin, ayaw niya sana ng pulitika. Hmm… But it’s the public and service that are looking for him. In fact, up to now, he is nagkakamot ng ulo, because he wants to distance himself from politics. But being a good soldier, and the family seems to take this position, if he is so ordered by the President, the public and the surveys, what can we do?

But for the record, we have not yet asked him what he really thinks about it.

In our last talk, about a week ago, we didn’t touch politics, but his work, and he wants us to say thanks lavishly to DoH’s supporters here in Pangasinan. Nitan, imbagak la, ha, Pingkoy, singilen taka la naani.
