No ROI for three-city ferry

Mr. Ceralde:

The three-city ferry boat project is indeed a dead fish after the “INCIDENT”.

It does not require rocket science to figure out the real purpose and backers of that ‘Dream’ project. It generated a debate on several issues such as the type of boat that is appropriate for the available draft along the route, safety and passenger comfort.

But the BS that caught my eye is their claim of substantially less travel time compared with land route and ROI. The tour operators (or the tourist) will not pay the fare that will realistically provide an ROI even in ten years.

I researched state of Washington’s ferry boat system. Fleet’s initial and facilities cost, operation and maintenance cost alone will tell anyone with common sense that buses are much cheaper. On the travel time, GOOGLE was very useful in determining the route, travel distance and time.

Aside from the above, sea transportation in the Philippines is known all over the world especially to tourists and tour operators. The other question is: What will those boats be used for during rainy season?
