LINGAYEN— The dredging operation in Sta. Barbara continues in order to effectively control and manage, if not completely eradicate, flooding in the town.

Thus was assured by Mayor Carlito Zaplan after he took his oath anew as the local chief executive.

Mr. Zaplan said while flooding is a perennial major problem in the town, it has already been minimized with the help of the dredging machine purchased by the town.

“Nakaginhawa na kami sa baha,” he said, citing 60% of the 12-kilometer stretch, from Barangay Tuliao to Minien, have already been dredged.

In his previous State of the Municipality Address (SOMA), the mayor already announced that flooding is no longer a huge problem in the town because of the continuous dredging and construction of dikes along the banks of the Sinocalan River.

Meanwhile, Mr. Zaplan said other infrastructure projects like barangay roads, school gymnasiums/stages, and other schools buildings will be completed soon.

The ‘Zaplan Caravan’ continues to bring doctors, nurses, and dentists to villages every Tuesday, he added

“Lahat nanganganak na taga-Sta. Barbara walang binabayaran sa ating rural health units and birthing center,” he said. (Johanne R. Macob)
