Jeepney crash into a house, 2 dead

LINGAYEN— Two persons died and 13 others were inujred when a passenger jeepney crashed into a house along Barangay Domalandan Center in this town at about 6:10 a.m. last Thursday.

Proclaimed dead on arrival at the Lingayen District Hospital (LDH), were Jose Vargas Jr. (no known personal circumstances) and Villamor Garcia, 53 years old and a resident of Brgy. Polong, Bugallon, after the public utility jitney they were boarding hit a concrete house.

According to the chief of Lingayen Police Station, P/Superintendent Jackson Seguin, the passengers said the passenger jeepney was traveling at high speed trying to overtake a motorcycle in front when the driver lost control and crashed into the house of Carmelita Quinto, 64 years old and a widow.

The passenger jeep and house incurred damages of still undetermined amount.

The driver, Allandaile Sergote, 33 years old, married, a resident of Barangay Bolaoen, Bugallon, fled right after the incident and went into hiding.

When the police went to his house to arrest him, he was nowhere to be found. A police manhunt for him is ongoing.

Meanwhile, the 13 injured passengers who were brought to the different hospitals for treatment are all in stable condition. (Tita Roces/Johanne Macob)
