THE Dagupan City Police Station (DCPS) launched last week its new community program, the ‘K-Pulis Dagupan’ to encourage residents to be pro-active in helping maintain peace and order in the city,

P/Supt. Christopher Abrahano, police chief, said “K- Pulis Dagupan” stands for Kaibigan ng Pulis Dagupan, representing community groups.

“The program has two sets of ‘friends’. One group of friends supports law enforcement functions in crime prevention and solution while the other group helping in accomplishing the station’s social responsibility projects,” he said.

According to Abrahano, the first group will join the police in Oplan Sita, checkpoints, and serves as force multipliers for special events.

The other group will assist in organizing soup kitchens during calamities, solicitation and distribution of free school supplies for indigent students, and wheel chairs for the physically challenged, among others.

Abrahano said the program is in line with the police station’s new service slogan — Pulis Dagupan: Kaagapay sa Kapayapaan at Kaunlaran.

“Our responsibility does not stop at law enforcement, peace and order. It goes beyond. We should do our share and pitch in for a progressive community,” he said.

There is also a newly-formed DCPS advisory council whose members are representatives of different sectors in the community headed by Councilor Jose Netu Tamayo as chairman.
