Re: Demolition of Magic Malasiqui pressed anew

Reading more about the proposed demolition of the Magic building, from what I have read the mall, owned by Magic Group of Companies, was to be built on the local government’s lot in early 2010s AFTER the members of the Sanggunian Bayan (SB or town council) approved it and Mayor Armando Domantay signed it into law for MGC to lease. The Magic Group of Companies did nothing wrong. Now Mayor Domantay, and others in the municipality are asking that the building be donated to the town. It seems highly questionable that the lease of municipal land for the project would have been approved unless the SB’s and the mayor’s plan was two fold, a win, win for the municipality. If the project was completed there would be jobs and income for Malasiqui. If on the other hand the Magic Group of Companies lost their case, the mayor and the SB were hoping that Magic would donate the building to the municipality, thus allowing the politicians bragging rights on how they saved Malasiqui money in obtaining the building. If I were Magic, I would raze the building and bid the town adieu.
