This island of filth, this river of garbage – this Dagupan City of lunacy couldn’t blame this environmental disaster on fish pens alone.
Look at this picture! What do you see?
Anyone with eyes on his head and a brain to match can see the other culprit, the uncontrolled proliferation of … unwanted squatters, on the riverbanks of the Pantal River throwing trash in wild abandon on the river itself.
THE POLITICALLY INCORRECT . . .
To put the blame on the fish pens ~ which are becoming few and negligible anyway ~ is the right approach to a political hot potato not to disturb the status quo, not to stir the hornet’s nest, when these wily-than-Houdini-squatters’ votes are concerned.
To solve this squatter dilemma, is to have a mayor, with a nerve of steel, who don’t bat an eye when a gun, is shoved in her/his face.
THE DREDGER COMETH . . .
There’s wild talk Mayor Belen’s snake oil saleswoman, the indefatigable and … okoyokoy … of old – Dagupan City Administrator Farah Decano, has this ingenious idea of dredging the Pantal River again, to scoff the trash … The Benjie “not-so-dead-yet” Lim … left behind.
If so, another P47,000,000.00 pesos needed to purchase another machine, when the previous dredger was sold at a pity as junk – P70,000.00 pesos.
THE HALL OF HORRORS . . .
With the rats, the roaches, the snakes and what have you inside City Hall roosting – Dagupeños as always, are in for their worst nightmare.
