Dear Editor:

IN the September 16, 2013 issue, Sunday Punch published an article entitled “No Liquidation for NGOs, POs and Barangays.” The article detailed a list of different non-government organizations, activities and barangays that were said to have received financial assistance from the Dagupan City Government but were not liquidated. With this, it has come to my attention that the Rotary Club of Uptown Dagupan was recorded to have received an amount of P2 million and P250,000 pesos in 2010. As past president of the said club, I am writing to your good office regarding my concern with regards to this matter.

First of all, the Rotary Club of Uptown Dagupan did not receive the said amounts of P2 million and P250k nor did it request for any financial assistance from the city (under then Mayor Benjamin Lim). In fact, none of our club members have any knowledge of the existence of the said fund. Also, if in case the amounts stated above were received for the Rotary Club of Uptown Dagupan, we are not aware of it and neither have we authorized anyone to collect on our club’s behalf.
