Lessons to be learned

Idealism is a virtue to be envied but in politics pragmatism is all important. Many of the people have been voting for what they think they can get from the government; what is more important is what can the government give you. In the U.S. during the last election large majority voted in order to get more from the government, what did they get? Instead of jobs, begging has become a way of life for many with every major street corner occupied by beggars. One fourth of the population must rely on the government for their food. Second hand stores now proliferate areas where shopping malls once stood. The voters in the U.S. are not getting what they thought they were voting for. Instead they are getting what the candidate wants not what the people wanted. Hopefully the voters of the Philippines learn before it is too late.
