Reporting the truth

DOWNPLAYING fair and constructive criticisms on issues affecting the city is but normal. Anybody who is somebody can do it. But, using the title of a book as a leverage to drive home a point weakens the arguments of the writer-newsman, a.k.a. defender.
Ermin F. Garcia’s Punchline didn’t inflict or cause collateral damage by naming the organizations which endorsed the sale of the MAAdore Hotel. He did it to protect the interest of DagupeƱos if and when the city is short-changed.
What Ermin did was not sour-graping. He has been reporting the “goings-on” in the city hall front that other media outlets refuse to do. Armed with only a pen, his only shortcoming is reporting the truth.
