Re: Long overdue – bangus branding

It has been an ongoing belief unbeknownst to many, the tagged “Pangasinan Bangus” offered on everybody’s grill, sinigang pots and frying pans, was harvested in the fish ponds, fish nets and fish tanks of Pangalatotland.

THE TRUTH BE KNOWN . . .

As I’ve said, the milkfish marketed in the Individual Quick Frozen (IQF) method in the fish markets of Korean, Vietnamese and Chinese – has no TAGS of “Pangasinan Bangus”, but Taiwan or the unmistakable entry of the Indonesian variety.

Comparing these milkfishes from the Pangasinan catch, you could be in the surprise of your life – the similarities are like the Siamese Twins . . . the size and the taste are comparable to the last morsel.

The exporter of this so-called “Pangasinan Bangus” is based in Pulilan, Bulacan too far away from Bonuan, but not too shallow to concoct an egregious lie.

THE MISSION STATEMENT

“We use only milkfish grown in … DEEP-SEA … cages to guarantee their excellent taste and to maintain their highest level of freshness”.

Deep-sea . . . means related to or occurring in the deepest part of the sea.

Where in Pangalatotland milkfish farmers raised them in the middle of the Lingayen Gulf? Nada, that I know of!

The way it’s done, is in shallow brackish waters of rivers with fish nets, fish tanks or in fish ponds not how the Taiwanese do the milkfish producing business.

However, by sheer magic this tagged “Pangasinan Bangus” has found a niche at Seafood City.
