Re: Judges, court employees back Chief Justice Corona

In a democracy – impeachment is a way to remove a public official from office charged with a crime or a misdemeanor. It has been used to remove former president Joseph Estrada accused of plunder. He was convicted.

It was the crowning moment of Arroyo who initiated the move to oust him, and her becoming president of this corrupt and rotten . . . republic . . . where she never learned, that it would be the skeleton in her closet to haunt her.

She was worst a president more than what Estrada did . . . tenfold. In her watch, corruptions in massive proportion – the ZTE broadband deal; the Fertilizer scam to name a few – from millions of pesos squandered by her administration, to manipulating election results, and murder of fifty (52) two people including journalists not seen in the annals of political murders since Pol Pot.

The Brethren . . .

The Supreme Court of the Philippines is consisted of 15 justices. And all of them, but one is nominated by Arroyo (Arrayco) including the embattled Renato Corona.

This court – is supposed to serve the people, however, what’s happening this body was organized for one and one purpose only, to protect Arrayco in her misdeeds, once President Aquino is sworn into office, which he promised to clean the government of corruption.

From the get-go this Arroyo Supreme Court stymied every effort by the Aquino administration. 1) The Truth Commission was ruled unconstitutional 2) It prevented Congress from impeaching the Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez, who was appointed by Arrayco, but eventually . . . resigned . . . in disgrace. 3) It also struck down Aquino’s second executive order seeking to revoke the . . . midnight appointments . . . by Arroyo made late in the dying days of her presidency as pay-offs for political debts.

The Ulysses Raciles Butuyan factor . . .

Here comes that illustrious judge from the Regional Trial Court Branch 51 in Tayug, the president of the Pangasinan Judges Association, and the man named after the wily and sneaky plotter Ulysses of the Trojan War.

Are Judge Butuyan and his JUDICIAL minions plotting to subvert due process? His words, “I am very, very sure that we are more solid than ever. In fact, not only members of the judiciary have thrown their support to Corona, but also people who love democracy.”

What a misread! This impeachment of Corona is not on him, but of democracy. For democracy to proceed, this country should have the courage to clean-up its act. To give check and balance to any branch of government, when that branch usurps the power it does not have. What Corona should have done in fairness of the Judiciary, Judge Butuyan, is to RECUSE himself, but he didn’t do that, in defiance of everything Philippines. He threw all his cards behind Arroyo gambling President Aquino will turn timorous, don’t have the chutzpah to do battle. It showed otherwise!

What you should do now, is to clam shut and let the Congress do its job. Let the Senate serve a verdict on the efficacy of the impeachment. Let the law run its course!

By the way, as reported when Arrayco was being transferred to a military facility, the people lined up the streets . . . jeering . . . her on what she’d become. This showed the Filipinos love the Philippines not this Robespierre of Philippine politics.

What side are you on anyway, Judge Butuyan? Democracy or Corruption?

A historical background . . .

This not the first against a Chief Justice. It was first done during Jefferson’s, when Chief Justice Samuel P. Chase was impeached, but acquitted later. It sets a precedent on the concept, that the judiciary is prohibited in partisan politics. It’s in this concept, Justice Corona, made a mistake when he decided to give Arrayco, a TRO – clearance for travel, which she could have gotten from a lower court, but, no, she went all the way up and drops the ball on Corona’s lap so sure she will get what she wanted.

The Arrayco getaway . . .

The Dominican Republic granted political asylum to her on October 5, 2011. The reason she was in a hurry to leave knowing the sword of Damocles is hovering over her head.
