What freedom of unrestricted passage?

Re simply protection
It’s not only Guam – Joe Ceralde’s right – but every country in the world, that enforced quarantine rules to protect entire produce of vegetables, fruits, poultry, the beef and pork industry and whole array, that involves the whole economic livelihood of a nation.
Case in point . . .
I don’t have to go that far to Guam, but here in the mainland.
California . . . whose economic well-being depends on huge swats of agricultural land, is most sensitive to invasive species that could wreck havoc to everything Americans find in their dining table.
From the cattle feed lots of Coalinga, to the greenfields of San Joaquin Valley . . . California’s Dept. of Agriculture protect these assets like . . . a jealous man to his girlfriend.
So, if you’re coming from outside the state either on I-15 and I-80 from Nevada, I-10 from Arizona, I-5 from Oregon, you’ll be surprised to find . . . checkpoints . . . on these interstates to ask you bluntly, if you are carrying anything detrimental to the state. The CDA agent will also ask you to open your trunk or slide your side doors open for inspection.
Where’s the freedom of unrestricted passage that every Aremicano enjoys?
Not in sunny California! This basic right of every US citizen is hampered by California laws, which has to be followed.
Last July, a quarantine on all Washington pear, was initiated barring all these fruits to pass thru California, because of a fruit fly that attacks this pear.
The whole harvest has to be destroyed.
Quote of the day . . .
“A drop of oil contaminates the whole enchilada!”
