Re: rude mango eaters

To: Maria Cabinta-Cardelli

Before you condemned the Guam Customs personnel . . . with total ignorance . . . you could have familiarized yourself first accordingly – on quarantine rules that put restrictions on items, like the mangoes you brought in.

You should have known by now, Guam, is an unincorporated territory of America, and as such, though its Customs functions is independent from the US Customs and Border Protection, the regulations governing the entry of products, is similar to what the US Dept. of Agriculture does.

All fruits and uncooked meats are confiscated by the Guam Dept. of Agriculture and disposed of. You brought in prohibited item, claiming you left it with them for safekeeping for you to retrieve once you board your flight to Manila. This line of reasoning’s not only absurd, but deceptive.

It’s unbelievable, you didn’t understand the fine print of the Customs Declaration you’re supposed to fill-up before you land in Guam.

The hubris . . .

How could you accuse Guam Customs, they’re vultures who had eaten your mangoes? Such lack of evidence to incriminate these employees . . . I am pretty sure, these employees are not like the inveterate thieves at Ninoy Int’l Customs . . . without visual confirmation, is an affront to what’s fair is all about. It will also show the typical Filipino in you who thinks anything you decide is beyond reproach. No way, Marya, it doesn’t work your way.
 Manila, is not Hagatna!

The Aussie mango . . .

It’s preposterous to bring back something abundant in Pinoyland. Mangoes? How stupid can that be?

This Queensland mango will tell you at once something’s wrong: R2E2 means . . . Restricted ‘to eto!”
