Re: Tayug School Brass Fine For Altering Certification
A female school district supervisor of Tayug town guilty of dishonesty! What a shame.
Never in my almost two-decade stint as division supervisor of the Division of Pangasinan that a local top-rank public school educator was meted a penalty equivalent to one month salary. This embarrassing but preventable occurrence could have been avoided if this lady was cognizant of the limitations of her duties and responsibilities. As a memento, she should keep a copy of the Ombudsman decision for posterity sake. Knowingly or unknowingly, however, it will also serve to enrich her curriculum vitae.
A very, very compelling reason must have compelled Ms Virginia Maceda to “doctor” the certification prepared by the school’s ranking committee — a committee of her creation — choosing the Magallanes Central School where one Ligor Martinez will be assigned. What she did constitute fraud. Just in case she forgot the meaning of the 5-letter word, she could ask help from her classroom teachers. Ms Maceda’s interference in a manner not befitting an educator spells trouble. And, she got it.
This woman won’t stop until she gets what she wants. She caused the super-imposition of the word “District II” to cover the school’s name, MCS, which was earlier erased. To the uninformed, this ploy — a very cheap shot — has given her mileage as both the MCS and the Zamora Elementary School that belongs to her district (District II). As a district supervisor, she believes that she has the discretion of assigning teachers to any of the schools in her area. The school’s evaluation committee became inutil.
Because of Ms Maceda’s indiscretion, Martinez reported to the ZES not to the MCS as per the committee’s recommendation. The lady paid her dues when the Ombudsman fined her for abused of power.
Her contention that she did the right thing is full of flaws. Alleging that the alteration and modification were done in good faith and without malice tells more about her person. Not until this lady is shown the door, there is no guarantee that another “hocus–pocus” won’t happen again.
