Re: Private schools demand tax refund

The schools claim that they are exempt from business taxes. In order to be tax free these school should operate be operating under the following provision:

1 These school should not function for an individual’s private gain.

2 Do these schools take excess money not used in the direct running of the schools, e.g. teacher and administrator’s salaries, upkeep and maintenance, and places them as reserved funds for future school development?

If the schools are being run for the individual(s) profit, then they should be taxed as any other profit making businesses are.

These schools have been paying taxes since 2001. Now, they want the tax money back. If these schools have just now found out after 10 years that they should not be paying taxes, then the school administrators should be replaced. The administrators are supposed to have enough education and business savvy to hire competent lawyers who are cognitive in the laws pertaining to non-taxable organizations. Otherwise these charges and return of past taxes are nothing but political hot air.
