Re: Quoting Sionel Jose
This expose’ as a part of Pangasinan’s historical background, is not a show-in or to be even taken seriously … it’s badly flawed.
What history?
Limahong … was an insignificant Chinko bandito – a miserable buccaneer – who pillaged the towns along the Gulf … for profit …
populated by gullible and defenseless people, who were awed by the audacity of this chopsticks eating pirate. He was not a part of the province annals, if Sionel Jose, is mesmerized by mayhem and murder.
Urduja … even Sionel Jose himself has doubts of her authenticity.
Palaris … a frivolous attempt on his Quixotic search for greatness, to overthrow the Andalusians until he was cashiered-in by his followers who made a killing on his rotten hide. He was hanged by the neck until dead.
The beach called … Red
This place used by Homma in 1941 to put a knife on MacArthur’s belly, I can’t see the logic to give credence to an invader whose aim, was to expand the Japanese empire.
It was also the setting of “I shall return” part deux bullshit, when Mac used his charms to hood wink Roosevelt – by the way his maternal cousin – the PINOYland has priority over the invasion of Japan. His theatrical attributes got hold on him on his promise he shall return … it was his self-serving pride backed-up by instinct – all along taken on the expense of naive Pinoys.
So, if these are parts of “Pangalatok’s” memoirs then Sionel Jose …. is smokin’ somethin’ even the addicts in the streets of LA wouldn’t even touch.
