A ban will not work

Re: Espino: No fishpens allowed in any river
Finally action has been proposed to clear the rivers of the over proliferation of fishpens. I say proposed because soon as one fishpen is removed another is erected as soon as the wrecking crew leaves. Banning fishpens ain’t gonna succeed. Too much big money is involved.
Until the farmers realize that they are the cause of the fishkills by having too many fish concentrated in one place, removal of the pens will do no good. Until that day comes, I hope that the governor has the backbone to carry out his mandate to remove the pens and allow the rivers to return to their normal flow.
The beauty of the Pangasinan rivers cannot be over emphasized. Everything must be done to protect their ecological environment.
