Re: A Kabaleyan’s Thoughts
Filipinos are Filipinos anywhere they go. When hurt, Filipinos react and feel bad about oddities of life that accidentally come their way. But I am still glad your child, however, young as she is still feel very much a Filipino. Filipino blood runs through her veins. Her wanderings and thoughts are typical of the idealism of the Filipino youth.
We were like her when we were younger. And even today when we are older, but with much wisdom in handling our feeling of radicalism. We don’t want other bloodlines to interfere with our affairs; even more, when these bloodlines stamp out our dignity as a people.
Yet, we stand by the belief that wherever we go we carry with us what our forefathers fought and died for-FREEDOM. We are free, and not a slave to anyone. If we are threatened we fight; if others look down on us; we look at them with strong conviction.
I thank you, Marilyn for sharing your piece. You are a mother; and, Liyanne is truly your child. Both Filipina-proud and brave.
