Help from US military

Watching the news clip of Sendai Japan makes us all think of our capabilities during a disaster. The third richest country in the world and country that values self reliance and national pride is Japan. Yet it does not raise request for help in spite of their people freezing due to lack of fuel (kerosene) and food. It even look sat Sendai airport and could not open the airport so relief supplies could be flown in.
Yes looking from the news clip, the debris in the airport is in every inch of the airport including the fuel farm. Japanese airport workers gave up in reopening the airfield. In spite of the enormity of the catastrophe the US military started to work. USAF Special forces parachuted in and started clearing debris and US Marines started pushing with heavy equipment air dropped. Sendai airport got cleared in three hours (Stars & Stripes 25 March 2011). Enormous relief capability that according to the Japanese airport administrator could not be done by any corporation.
Flashback like US military efforts during typhoon Ondoy and Indonesian Tsunami, don’t you think SP posters. But then let’s kick them all out of the Pacific.
