Re: Culture of corruption
Dear Mr. Garcia:
I believe that you need to follow-up to focus on the facts that corruption at the Armed Forces of the Philippines under the last administration had become a national policy such that the corrupt generals and their wives and some of their children were just mere highly paid errand boys and couriers for money laundering.
Too bad these corrupt generals allowed themselves and their families to be used and do not have the guts to make it right. General Reyes’ suicide is a cowardice act and he does not deserve to be buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.
Are the Filipino people stupid to pity a general who will sacrifice his men in the field to favor and satisfy a corrupt commander-in-chief? Worse, his suicide covers identity of the real culprits. Is that heroic? Is that the qualities of a SAMURAI as some PMAers had indicated? PMA’s creed is INTEGRITY, COURAGE, and LOYALTY. The loyalty is to their country, not to a corrupt superior.
