Re: MacArthur landed in Lingayen!

I once read the first edition of William Manchester’s biography of General MacArthur. Somewhere in the book Manchester indicated that General MacArthur set up his first land command post at my hometown of Santa Barbara where he supposedly stayed for ten days. Then he advanced to Hacienda Luisita.

My cousin-in-law, Mrs. Estela Erfe Lopez, remembers an autographed bust of the general at the Erfe home. Her father was a Santa Barbara mayor at some time (that may or may not be in 1945) but she does not remember seeing the general at the Erfe home.
