Gen. Douglas McArthur landed in Lingayen (fact or fiction)/Dagupan, San Fabian

UNLOCKING THE MYTH:
The main force of Gen. McArthur and liberators landed in Lingayen beach near the present Lingayen airport adjacent to Libsong.

I asked my father and this is what he said to me: The Americans used the Capitol as a landmark and they are familiar with the area due to the presence of Lingayen Aerodome which used as an emergency and support airfield (main air base was
Clarkfield). There are many remnants of matting (flat metals with interlocking ends) in Lingayen due to the fact that the terrain is somewhat a marshland and cannot support the massive weights of tanks, armored vehicles and huge trucks. Enterprising people used the mattings as fences which could still be seen today.

Then Gen. McArthur motored to Dagupan and established a headquarter at West Central Elementary school. With the famous picture of the general in front of the shop of a jeweler and a locksmith who is the father of Dra. Zenaida Torio.

The presence of Gen. McArthur indicates that this is the main liberation force considering he always employs media in his campaign. The small landing force in San Fabian is used as a diversionary tactic to keep the enemy guessing.
