SM and Robinsons in Dagupan. One of your columnists wrote that is a sign of progress. Others hail it as the modernization of Pangasinan.

Building Malls will not bring progress to the people. It will bring profits to its owners yes. It will provide low paying jobs.

It will bring business. Yes it will mostly be retail and fast foods.

The Big Malls will kill the small businesses.

The Big Malls will only bring traffic to the already congested roads.

Positive progress brings basic services to the people. Power, Water, Sanitation, housing, employment opportunities, health environment, public education.

Malls will not bring Public Service to the people of Dagupan.

Could you point out a Big Mall location where it has contributed to the development of its population?

Health services are not within reach of the common tao. The quality of education is poor and directed towards the education of export labor. Housing continues to be a problem. There is lesser land available to build homes and even much less lands for agriculture.

The construction of the Big Malls are praised by those who will benefit largely from it.

Public Services first before a Big Mall.
