RE: POLITICS

If politics is an inexact science, then how do we measure the candidates? Here are my personal criteria. It is admirable to posses the ff characteristics – Leadership and Vision, Integrity, Responsibility,
 Fiscal Accountability, Political will and Humility.. Are we selecting the new pope???? he!he!he!

1. Leadership and vision. A leader considered as father/mother of a nation/province/city/town provides nationalistic service to his/her constituents. To look up for the benefits of the majority versus the chosen few.  A vision to improve and uplift the lives of the people by identifying projects that are beneficial versus projects that will become white elephants. Nagkakaroon ng projects pero ang sinisilip ay kickbacks, rackets para kumita lang
 and leave the govt. holding an empty bag.

2. Integrity- we expect the highest level of professional conduct in privte and public life. Makikilala mo ang puno sa pamamagitan ng kanyang bunga at dahon. Maganda at kapakapakinabang kapag maraming natutuwa at nabibiyayaan sa kanyang shade na ibinibigay sa mamamayaan. Mapait naman ito kapag ito ay nagdudulot ng sakit/pabigat at pasanin ng taon bayan.

3. Responsibility-accept responsibility and accountabilities for your actions. Huwag mong pagtakpan ang iyong kamalian ng kasinungalingan at marami pang kasunod na kasinungalingan. Everybody commits 
mistakes, to err is human and to forgive is divine. That’s why we are humans and everybody deserves a second chance. Please refer to viewpoints regarding TRUTH and LIES according to the perception of Bishop Cruz. The difference is like day and night.

4. Fiscal Accountability-strive to operate for cost effective measures without compromising the quality service to the people. You are the steward to people’s money/
kaban ng bayan and it is not your own piggy bank. You are also the steward of our fragile environment
 Are you going to mortgage the nation’s future for your personal gain. What are we in power for….
 Power and money has its way of seducing people to the dark side. 
Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.  Politics like an idle mind is the workshop of the devil-(Mr. Ramon Durano from Danao)

5.HUMILITY-humble enough to understand that power to govern comes and emanates from the people. This is a virtue and essence of a true and loyal servant. Remember that your salaries come from taxpayers like you and me. Do not be arrogant as if you rule a fiefdom.

6.POLITICAL WILL and INNOVATIONS-
the inner strength and courage to change accepted practices and standards for the better. We have financial, political, social and soon to be moral crisis. It seems that a lot of people do not care anymore.  There is a scientific study that if you put a frog in a beaker and gradually turn on the heat to a higher level they fried up however if you put a frog in a hot water it jumps away.

Tayo ba ay nagiging manhid na at walang inintidi kundi ating sarili???

Nothing endures but change. 
Election is like a peaceful revolution to change the leadership in government. Six years is too long for a bad president and too short for a good one. I prefer to revert back to election every 4 years, maybe we save money vs. election every 3 years for local officials.

We are finally on the eve of changing the perceived corrupt and bankrupt presidency. If Pres. Marcos
 has Imelda then GMA has the FG Mike Arroyo as the Achilles heels of the said administrations. They drag the presidents to their lowest ebb. That is the traditional 
thinking but who holds the power???

GMA, one of the most unpopular presidents in our history, a govt. that refuses to listen to the cries of the common people and cater to the rich and powerful. This present administration put more burden to the long suffering populace by imposing (VAT) a form of oppressive tax versus improve collections from BIR and Custom duties which are influence by syndicates. Tax collection should be progressive and not repressive where you tax even the poorest of the poor indirectly. Bakit manga mahihirap ba hindi na bibili ng gamot, and other commodities???

This is a product of a tainted presidency like a usurper to the throne due to Garci scandal
 and many more malfeasance. It suffered a serious credibility who is fighting for its life and recognition. In short I call it an INSECURE ADMINISTRATION FOR ITS LEGACY. I am hoping a champion for the people will emerge from our midst one day.

GO OUT AND VOTE, Let you voices
 be heard and counted. With the failure of PCOS machine at precinct levels this will give a very grave and serious credibility 
to this coming election. With the 
COMELEC burying its head in the sand and refuse to see things clearly and objectively. Are the SMARTMATIC people grossly incompetent or this is part of the grand design for failure of elections. This will definitely bring CHAOS of great proportions.

If you frustrate the will of the people then get ready for a backlash from the people in whatever form or shape. My heart bleeds for the untimely death of the young people especially the idealistic ones in the name of protecting the sanctity of the ballots. How many mothers, parents, brother and sisters, friends will weep due to unnecessary loss of lives during this political exercise. The most dangerous element is a guile tongue and a dark heart to protect their own selfish interest. I hope that my worst case scenario predictions are wrong but i feel apprehensive this time. I could feel it and to my fellow countrymen…May the force be with you.

It is inherent and unalienable
 right for the people to revolt and topple a repressive and brutal government. when it becomes insensitive to the cries of the people. I do not advocate revolution but if constitutional safeguards/remedies fails to satisfy our quest for justice, then what option do we have????

I am hoping that this contributed material will make it to editorial on its unadulterated form other than misspelled words.
