Re: Pangalatok no more!
Like Mr. Ermin Garcia, Jr., I’ve encountered people referring to us as pangalatok. In Metro Manila or here in the U.S., I met fellow Filipinos who derisively called us by that label.
I’ve discovered, however, that some of them didn’t know the derisive implication of that word. When I told them that it means “may katok” or “sira ang ulo”, they apologized.
As I always say TGIF (Thank God I’m Filipino), I tell people I’m from Pangasinan and proud to be a Pangasinense.
Let’s try to do our best to maintain that pride of our province, our people and our heritage.
Pangalatok no more, indeed!
