Not destined to be servants

Jose Ceralde,

The issue is not whether you or I was in N Division. In your posting you seemed to imply that Filipinos do not have the ability to man a nuclear plant. If that is so, please explain how you were able to become superintendent of the bomber leg on Nuclear Alert Force Wing. According to your past, posting you must think that you are one of the very few exceptional Pinoys with the ability to work with nukes. Please, don’t put down the rest of the Filipinos.

The Philippines has one of the highest literacy rates in the world. Are these highly educated Filipinos destined to serve others because there are people who do not want them to be technologically equal with the other developing countries?

You state, “personnel are trained in the buddy system to report any change in behavior or any events an individual they are working with may have to include family stress.” Fine. Big Brother may be O.K. if you’re on a plane waiting to drop the bomb. Yes, working in a nuclear plant should require psychological examinations. So should the police, and the average soldier or sailor. Try watching your buddy dying because a bullet found its mark. Maybe everyone should be given psychological exams.

As long as there are people who oppose nuclear technology, the Philippines will always be in economic and financial doldrums. I am tired of reading about OFWs being beaten, raped, or otherwise abused by their foreign employers. The Philippines has the brainpower and manpower to compete with the rest of the developed countries. There is no reason for Filipinos to be their servants.
