Dear Dr. Edwin:

Would you be patient enough to educate us why you mentioned and explained what is “Depleted Uranium” when a nuclear power plant’s waste is not the same as “depleted uranium” and does not belong to that category in terms of security, safe handling and waste disposal requirements?

Are you sure Dr. Edwin that “depleted uranium” used in weapons systems is completely safe? If so, can you explain the continuing debate by many experts like you as in the following articles: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2007/nov/18/usa.nuclear http://www.seattlepi.com/95178_du12.shtml Your third to the last paragraph of your lecture/posting last 8 March was copied verbatim from a debate in PoliticsForum.org http://www.politicsforum.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=42&p=13338384 and I am not sure if the debater that you quoted has as much expertise as you are when it comes to nuclear energy.

Dr. Edwin, the following are your very reassuring and comforting statements:

1. The danger in using nuclear energy is at the most very minimal.

2. The amount of waste is minimal.

3. There is virtually no danger once the waste (is) stored a thousand feet inside of a mountain.

4. It is safe.

Now Dr. Edwin, in order to further allay any fear of our kabaleyan from nuclear energy, can you give us your educational/academic and professional/technical background and provide your expert opinion or answers to the above and the other posters’ concerns. It will also justify my calling you “Doctor Edwin”, the father of nuclear energy technology of the Philippines.

Thank you very much and have a nice day.
