Destined to be mediocre

Political families gain their strangle hold on Philippine politics because the voters are apathetic or too lazy to study the candidates and the issues.
Take Dagupan City. The name Fernandez has been synonymous with the local political scene since Angel Fernandez was appointed to the top city position after the MacArthur landing in 1945 at Bonuan.
What magic does the name Fernandez hold or for that matter, the Quisons after Sofronio Quison was appointed the first Pangasinan Governor by the same military leaders. The list of these dynastic names abounds throughout the country.
If anyone is at fault, as I have previously stated many times, it is the voters themselves. It is the voters who have allowed the Ampatuans, the Arroyos, the Aquinos and other political dynasties to succeed and grow.
The country is being led by these political dynasties and movie and television personalities. The country is destined to a mediocre form of government until the voters wake up.
