Re: Not for rebel cops and soldiers

It’s true, it’s a God given right to run and serve your constituents and your country. The law is clear, you should be in a clean slate, no pending cases or tainted background. It’s like applying for a visa to travel to any foreign state: US, Australia, Israel, Canada, Japan, etc.

But how many are running for public office in blatant violation of the law? We had Jalosjos, a double rapist; Gen Esperon, the dagdag-bawas general favoring PGMA; Bolante, the fertilizer man of PGMA who escaped to the US seeking asylum; Trillanes, a rebel soldier and won a senate seat; PGMA still at the helm running for the second district of Pampanga with due advantage over her 2 opponents (an ordinary engineer and a municipal mayor; those in the FVR list with unpaid behest loans like the favorite son of Pangasinan, Speaker JDV (world bank loan of $120 million for his Landoil Co.), $14 million behest loan of the Cojuangcos to purchase the whole of Hacienda Luisita and Azucarera de Tarlac; Erap, the convicted plunderer and many more. Even our very own Joey de Venecia tried to bid (with his Dad Speaker JDV) on the project that ended up as the ZTE scam against PGMA, a case of conflict of interest.

Do we still have delicadeza among our politicians or is it long gone?
