Re: Mangaldan mayor seeks rival’s disqualification
Sir, BONAFE DE VERA-PARAYNO and not Bonifacia, is Mayor Romero’s lone opponent whom he petitioned to be disqualified.
In today’s issue, Feb. 12, 2010 of the Phil. Star, p.19, Comelec II Division junks bid to disqualify QC house bet….
Tan, who became a US citizen in 1993, took an oath of allegiance to the Philippines on November 30, 2009 to fulfill a requirement by the country’s law on dual citizenship. She then filed her candidacy on December 1, 2009, after only one day.
On the residency issue, the Comelec ruled that residency is not dependent on citizenship.
Therefore, although the COMELEC Division I has not come out yet with its official decision, I strongly believe, along with the many supporters of Ms. Bonafe DeVera-Parayno all over the world, that she is very much qualified to run for Mayor of Mangaldan.
Thank you.
