Re: Politicians are part of the problem

Thank you for your profound comments and observations. You remind us of another rational thinker– the great educator, Dr. Blas Rayos.

You are right, politicians and religious leaders are part of the problem. For political survival, some politicians keep on changing their positions on the issue of population control. Some religious leaders want to impose their beliefs and doctrines on others.

We must remember that our government is a democracy, not a theocracy. However, we have to accept the reality of some craziness in the different groups. We are reminded of the case of Galileo. By proclaiming his scientific discovery, as an astronomer, mathematician and physicist, that the Earth revolves around the Sun and not vice versa, he was arrested, imprisoned, tortured and condemned to die by the Roman Inquisition.

Even the Lord Jesus was persecuted, condemned and crucified by religious leaders and politicians because he disagreed with them on many issues. He was ostracized for being a “friend of sinners” (Luke 7:34). The apostle Paul wrote that we are all sinners (Romans 3:23). In spite of their vow of chastity, some present- day religious leaders have been found guilty of sexual abuses.

We are grateful to have a loving, forgiving, gracious and merciful God who understands our limited understanding and knowledge. In this 21st century, we hope and pray that our judgmental and self-righteous leaders will learn from past mistakes and change. Present realities and problems demand realistic and practical solutions.
