According to Rep. Edcel Lagman these bills suffered Mona Lisa’s death due to very strong lobby and opposition by the Catholic Church.
Family planning and sex educations are still consider taboo in our conservative society. The church is just doing its job. The church is not a DEMOCRATIC institution because it follows its own dogmas and teachings through its hierarchy from Pope to cardinals to bishops down to parish priest.
This is very understandable, part of the problem are the politicians who are more concerned about political survival versus the welfare of the Filipino people.
Time will come when extreme poverty and hunger will sweep the land. Let them legislate a law against an empty stomach. Tignan natin kung may batas laban sa kumakalam na sikmura.
