Re: Politics
People are getting excited with this coming election. The whole country is affected by this so-called election fever.
The way I see it there would be major realignment of politicos regardless of party affiliations. It will be a toss up between the two old parties of Nacionalista and Liberal.
Between now and election time, there will be a lot of switching, backstabbing, with lots of twist and turns, after all in politics there is no permanent alliance, only permanent interest. This is called political survival and certain presidential candidates will be in for a rude awakening. Even rats will abandon a sinking ship.
The presidency is governed by fate and destiny. For it is written in the stars. Let us go back in history. Athens the cradle of democracy that produces great leaders and philosophers like Plato, Socrates, Aristotle, Pericles to name a few. This type of democracy is rather direct representation and people who wish to serve are chosen by a lottery. If done fairly everybody has equal opportunity to serve. This is not like today where the rich and famous, celebrities has due advantage. How about it?
At the end of the year they have the chance to ostracize those who abuse power. One of the punishments is an exile for ten years, away from families, friends and supporters. If we do this today, how many leaders will be left?
Guard your votes, my friends. I call it the great equalizer, whether you are rich, powerful, poor, weak, learned matalino ka man o mangmang, you only have one vote.
For the politicos, pls. remember Manuel L. Quezon’s famous quote “My loyalty to my party ends when my duty to the people begins.”
