Re: Overseas Pinoys have not abandoned RP

Are Filipinos happy? If they are happy, they would not seek out to put down roots in another foreign land where they can buy bread and butter at the fraction of their income. If they are happy, nurses, doctors, engineers, brothers and sisters would dwell and stay in their home country to provide much needed service for their own countrymen; “brain drain” would not be in the Filipino’s vocabulary. Many destitute teenagers or young women in their early 20s, without hesitation, would marry a big, fat, ugly, salivating foreigner trice their age in order to escape dearth poverty and the poor living condition in the Philippines. These Filipinos move to another country not because they are happy but because they dislike what they see about the hellishly painful conditions in the Philippines. They abhor of what have become of the political system in the Philippines; consequently, they move because they hate being a Filipino!

Anyone who abandons his motherland in favor of living in another country and later claims that he or she is a proud Filipino is in conflict with himself or herself: his deeds and words conflict with each other. Abandoning and later claiming that he is a proud Filipino do not work hand in hand because these two claims oppose each other. It is like mixing oil and water which is an absolute impossibility. Since he says one thing and does the opposite way, his statements just do not make sense, and his arguments flip-flop. Because of people’s “birthright to live a better life,” he is like collaborating with the Japanese imperialists and later claiming to be a proud Filipino. Therefore, he chooses to live in a foreign land because he hates and is unhappy to live in his own country; otherwise, he would have stayed even during thick and thin.

Put himself in the shoes of a native born American. Would he immigrate into the Philippines? Would he take his whole family and abandon America to live in another and swear to defend the constitution of that land? No! He will not abandon his own country; in fact, he will defend and die for his own country against corruption and terrorists and for the preservation of liberty because he is damned proud to be an American.

“Adopting another nationality, abandoning his own country-all for the sake of family, of love, and of birthright to live a better life” does not mean that she is a proud Filipino. What she means is that she feels proud only of herself because she or her brother or father or sister was able pluck her family out of their misery in hell-like living conditions in the Philippines.

Also, seeing someone at the airport does not mean that he is a proud Filipino; he just feels nostalgic about seeing a person similar to his physical characteristics after a long period of absence.

Finally, Mr. Price Henry Dumaran’s combative expression only exhibits his despicable, abhorrent Filipino-style arrogance, and that is what he is very proud of. (In another previous forum thread, who cares about his SUV’s xenon headlights?)
