Re: Alaminos airport: dream or fool’s hallucination?

I agree with Mr. Pontaoe, the Alaminos Airport is a grandiose project that will not fly. To put it bluntly, not enough income will shutdown.

I don’t see any motivation for investments. Are there active manufacturers and other businesses in the area?

Numbers and types of based and flying aircrafts to be served (turboprops, business jets, semi-commercial jets, cargo, corporate, charter, pleasure and military planes)? Only transit passengers, tourists and retirees? Is the airfield designed as a crosswind runway for safety, properly lighted, with control tower, hangar, triple A fire protection, fueling and defueling capability, communication, adequate trained personnel and manager(career professional)for operation and maintenance?

This will entail 2 to 3 billion pesos capital investment. I don’t think the next president will buy it. If this happened, it will be a repeat of the Bataan Nuclear Project of the Marcos corrupt regime that went kaput at a cost of $255,000 (World Bank loan) a day paid for by the taxpayers for 30 years.

I don’t think Mayor Braganza has the managerial savvy to decide on this project. Are there qualified engineers to do the quality control to perform testing procedures, personnel training, acceptance, 5-yr warranty enforcement and free spare parts supply for one year?
