Mr. Castanaga: It might interest you to read up on the Philippine Constitution, specifically Article VI, Section 7: “No member of the House of Representative shall serve for more than three consecutive terms.”
There is NOTHING in it that says the termed out congressman could pass his or her seat to any person. What do you think of this, an inherited title??? The spirit of the term limit law is to prevent the continuous misbehavior of the termed out congressman.
Gina de Venecia’s running for her husband’s soon to be termed out seat is just a way to keep the seat in the de Venecia name and by extension, Joe’s access to the office. Everyone knows that Joe will be calling the shots, is it not?
The service to the people bullcrap that Gina de Venecia will be spouting off on her campaign is pure bullcrap. To me, it sounds like “There is more money to be made so is want my husband’s congressional seat”.
Again, the majority of the Filipino voters is ignorant of the issues, and can be cheaply and easily bought. They get what they deserve in the likes of movie stars and corrupt politicians.
