Malasiqui’s desecrated plaza

I had to write this comment on your article re prison jails and their effect on the environment.

Where in Pangasinan can you find the jail located at the plaza? The Police Station built during the past administration inside the Malasiqui plaza included a prison jail. Now, these prisoners have a heyday calling out through their windows to passers-by, mostly students who go to one parochial and one private school. Not to say the least, you can imagine the shocked reactions of these young students. The last time I spoke with current Mayor Armando Domantay, he said the prisoners are to be transferred elsewhere. I will be very happy if you can follow up this promise.

Way back in 1994, I have raised the issue about the municipal government taking over the plaza and constructing there a building intended to become a museum. That particular structure has outlived its purpose.

In spite of this, the political heads went ahead and even disgraced the plaza by moving the police and fire stations there. This plaza is a national heritage, as all others in different towns are. Ermin, I need your help in tracking down NCCA re any violations were committed. That plaza was to-die for during my childhood. I have spoken to a lot of Malasiquenos here in the US who, like myself, are very concerned that the plaza that was once the glorious centerpiece of our town is now so desecrated.

Please continue to advocate for issues that concern us ordinary citizens. I’m so glad you’re still very much on track. Thanks – my simplest way of expressing my respect for you and Punch.
