Re: Order in the forum
Mr. Delfin and Mr. Pontaoe,
I truly respect your position on this “identity” topic. And I wholeheartedly admire your tenacity on sticking with your guns gentlemen. This topic comes up every three years or so?
Although I agree with Mr. Delfin’s critique as far as text-like messages being annoying, I wouldn’t go that far with banning pseudonyms or sending out the grammar police after those committing these infractions.
Let’s start with pseudonyms, years ago, everyone’s e-mail addresses were published here along with the sender’s name. They were taken out after a few of us appealed that our private lives were easy target to few. With today’s technology, our full name published in www can definitely cause personal problems, and to some, may even cost them financially.
Here in the US, everything you buy on a credit card, loans you take out, cities you travel to, books you read, violations with the law, your neighbor’s complaints about you are all public knowledge, if you know where to look. Any twelve-year old tech savvy kid armed with nothing but full names can even virtual-peep in your window… your home window.
To those of us who still hides behind pseudonyms, we just want a little privacy. Now to the grammarians, yes, texts, twitters, instant messaging have their places, but if we truly want the common tao to have their voice, why limit their access to this wonderful array of forum posters from all walks of life?
