Global warming not cause of tidal flooding

Re: Is Dagupan sinking?
The idea being flaunted by City Administrator Alvin Fernandez, that tidal flooding of Dagupan, is caused by global warning, is pure rubbish.
Cop-out!
This’ the only way to deflect responsibility when the ability to explain what’s happening cannot be achieved because of outmost ignorance.
What’s global warming has to do with tidal flooding? Tidal flooding occurs with the movements of the sun and the moon.
He should know tide, is the vertical movement of water and it only goes up or down. It’s caused by the gravitational pull of the sun and the moon on the oceans of the earth.
Global warming . . . is the rise of earth’s temperature which can cause the ice of the poles to melt, thus increasing the level of the oceans which could inundate the coastlines of the world.
Is it happening? Not in Al Gore’s or Alvin, the Cheapmunk’s wildest dreams!
If they check on Pantal River’s contribution to this phenomenon, they will find the river is the funnel where all these tidal waters pour into the city.
What the city needs is a barrier at the mouth of Pantal, that could be raised during high tides like what other low lying areas of the world does i.e. London with the Thames.
It cannot be done when politics comes first before everything and this city don’t have resources to mount a challenge to a perennial difficulty.
And raising the elevations of streets without proper drainage just adds more shit on the problem.
With the monsoons and tides combine, the people should face reality and live with it.
