Carry a big stick

Until Mayor Fernandez and the city dads put their feet down on the law breakers, anarchism will prevail.
No, I’m not talking about your common every day hoods I’m talking about the squatters who take city land to the detriment of the city and it’s populous.
I have written about this before because I knew that no matter what the city offered, the squatters of Sitio Russia would hold out for more or wait for the city would abandon the plans for the fish processing plant. Either way they win.
The squatters are not the only ones guilty of this type of anarchism. The beaches are being violated by illegal homes being built on public land. The water ways are also being cluttered with illegal fish pen, in many cases causing the fish to die off due to the lack of oxygen.
These problems have been caused by past city administrations looking the other way (possibly because of an envelope being left in their desk drawer) while city laws were being broken. What will happen in the future when Malacanang decides to restore the PNR through Dagupan? The former PNR right of way has been taken over by, again, squatters.
No, I’m not completely heartless but compassion only goes so far.
Former U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt once said, “Speak softly but carry a big stick.” Mayor Fernandez, do your job. That is why you were elected.
