Re: Have guns, will kill?

To Mr. Al Mendoza,

You are entitled to your opinion whether you want to arm yourself or not. Your “Have guns, will kill” column is rather misleading. As a gun owner, I have not thought of, or intend to kill another human being. Guns are useful tools and its ownership comes with responsibility. I am glad that we in the USA have the right to bear arms if we chose to.

The Philippine government does not trust its people that’s why you have all these restrictions to gun ownership. Unless of course if you’re the MILF then the national government will sit down and negotiate with you and concede to your demands.

The problem with arming the Kapitans is there’s probably many of them who don’t have any idea in the proper handling firearms and the responsibilities of owning one. Sadly, many Filipinos become crazy when they have a gun. They don’t have a business in having a gun at all, period. Even if it was issued by the governor who by the way had struck down all the laws restricting gun ownership.

The second issue of this shotgun issue is that Mr. Espino with all his years in the military DOES NOT have any concept of what CHAIN OF COMMAND is. In case you have forgotten, the chain of command goes up and down, Mr. Governor. He should have consulted with the Mayors who are in reality, these kapitans work for. Do not jump the chain of command! I wonder if they teach the basics of the chain of command in the PMA. Mistah? That’s bullcrap!

Or could it be that the sight of the kickback on the purchase of these shotguns have the amnesia effect on the governor? Mr. Ermin Garcia Jr. really hit the nail on these one.
