The difference is in the system

Mr. Ceralde,

It will be very difficult for me to make comparison between educational system and religious organizations in the Philippines and Canada. For one thing, there is a big difference between Canadian and Philippine educational systems. Another thing, some Catholic schools in Canada are publicly funded.

In addition, Canadian religious organizations and other charitable organizations receiving special tax treatment may engage in limited, non-partisan political activities. They must abide by these government guidelines to keep their special status. Donations of cash or in kind to charitable organizations are tax deductible in Canada.

Obviously, everybody must file income tax returns to account for all these tax donations and deductibles.

I think your concept of charitable organization is different. For me, nongovernmental (NGO) and charitable organizations must be non-discriminatory, non-profit and non-partisan. There must be a national watchdog organization to prevent abuses by charitable organizations so that the general public will know whether it is wise or foolish to give to this or that worthy cause.

If we look at it very closely, we can see the obvious. The difference between countries is all about the systems or procedures that are being used in doing things. There are countries that are more organized, systematic, efficient and productive that is why they can envision their future clearly and they know the path they have to take to make those visions come true for the sake of their country and its people and sometimes for the sake of other countries or, especially, for the sake of the planet earth that we all live in.

Godspeed to all of us and I sincerely mean, for all of us, the citizens of the planet earth.
